Some businesses including law and accounting firms are structured as partnerships where the reputation of the business is important and partners all share the liability of the business. Employees in their first few years are working arguably for below market wages as they 'earn' their right to become a lawyer or accountant. Recently at a dinner party a friend says, "The low wages paid to employees in law and accounting firms is how the partners make so much money and there should be an investigation into the artificially low wages as I think this is not fair."
