After graduation, Alice Miller interviewed and was offered a position with Medical Recruitment Specialists (MRS), a firm specializing in the recruitment and placement of physicians. As Alice started the position, she was asked to sign a non-compete agreement restricting her from opening her own recruitment business or working for a competitor for a period of one year after leaving MRS. Alice signed the agreement. Five years after starting at MRS, Alice and a recruiter from a rival firm decide to open their own recruitment business. On her final day with MRS, Alice's manager reminds her of the non-compete agreement she signed.
