Consider the upper stage of a long narrow rocket used to transfer a satellite from a low-earth orbit to geosynchronous orbit (thus it is out of the atmosphere). Assume a small misalignment of the thrust vector FT from the center line, as shown in Figure 11.33. For large high-thrust solid rocket motors, the rockets are always spun about the long axis.
