While not a case of contagion, the Unabomber sought and received unprecedented coverage of his causes by threatening more violence. Using the Internet, look up and read the "Unabomber Manifesto." After reading the manifesto, outline and discuss reasons for and against publishing the lengthy political tract.

2. Using the Internet, read the New York Police Department's report "Radicalization in the West: The Homegrown Threat." While the report deals specifically with the radicalization stages of Muslims in the diaspora, could this model be adapted to explain the radicalization of homegrown, non-Muslims? Do you think that their causes justify violence, and if so, (1) only the damaging of property or (2) also the harming persons?
