Project management is a carefully planned and organized effort to accomplish a specific one-time effort. Project management encompasses the knowledge, techniques, and tools necessary to manage the development of projects. Within this context and topics such as management alternative life-cycle models, development team organization, and management of technical people are also discussed. The purpose of the assignment is to apply the knowledge gained in the area of project management planning and coordinating.

There are two components for this assessment-

Assume that you are in charge of a project. The topic of your project could be related to but not limited to any topic within the list provide below:

Report guidelines
As a project manager, you have the overall responsibility of controlling your project through its entire life cycle. The management has requested you to submit a project charter report consisting of:

1. Project Description

- Describes the Background of selected topic. Explain the problems that the project will address. Identify the key needs that the project is designed to meet, and include any background material on reasons why the project needs have arisen.

2. Stakeholders
- Identify the relevant Stakeholders of your project with their roles and responsibility.

3. Project Objectives / Success Criteria
- Explains the Project's Business Objectives, and the Success Criteria used to measure them.

4. Scope (In and Out)
- Describes the Scope of the Project (both in-scope and out-of-scope)

5. Assumptions / Dependencies
- Explain the Assumptions, Constraints and Dependencies of Project (preliminary).
Assumptions: List the key assumptions that the project depends on (resources, policies, scheduling, technology, etc.).
Constraints: List the restrictions or limitations (based on time and cost) that will guide decision-making throughout the life of the project.
- Describes the Major Milestones that the Project has to achieve including the target date.

6. Work breakdown structure (WBS):
- Provide a WBS which lists all major tasks and sub tasks. The WBS identifies the project elements that require resources, used to organize the cost estimates and to ensure that the cost of all identified work has been estimated, and provides the relationship among all the components of the project and the project deliverables.
- Include Gantt chart and Network Diagram.

7. Resources Needed vs. Available
- Describes the Roles / Competencies needed to implement the project, Human resources available.

8. Conclusion
- Provide a summary statement covering all aspects covered in the report

9. References

Your report should include a title, table of contents and references. You may make any suitable assumptions while writing the report.

• The similarity percentage of your final submission will be one of the factors considered, for assessing the originality of your assignment. Note that Turnitin could take upto 24 hours to produce similarity reports for submissions. • The last submission, within the deadline, will be considered as your final submission. • Assignments should be submitted by 6pm on the day of the deadline. There is a grace period until midnight to allow for any technical difficulties, but any assignments submitted after this will be counted as late. 6. This is an individual assignment and carries a 50% of the module grade. 7. This assignment follows report format and must be original and creative. An analytical piece of work is required. The use of ‘cut and paste’ approach will be penalized. It must be presented in a structured manner, with appropriate cover page, content page, introduction, body (with appropriate heading / sub-headings), conclusion, references, page numbered and any required appendices. 8. Your report should be word processed and professionally presented. The length of your report should be between 2000 – 2500 words, presented in text of font size 12 with 1.5 line spacing. 9.
