Assessment Task 1
Assessment method used: Research Project 1000 – 1500 words
Assessment Instruction:
The student must research existing information to support and improve their work practice. The student must identify a gap in their own practice/area of interest in the Mental health or AOD field and complete a research activity and develop actions based on research outcomes for 1 issue within own field of practice.
The student must describe and explain the different reasons for undertaking research, including:
comparison
hypothesis testing
trend identification
own knowledge extension
strengthen quality of own practice
The student must identify and describe sources of information, including established information sources and current research within own area of practice
The student must describe and explain the Principles and models of evidence-based practice and the relevance of each to their working practice, including: rules of evidence duty of care requirements associated with evidence-based practice differences between evidence-based practice, continuous quality improvement and research
The student must propose an identified improvement to their practice/organization that has been identified from the research and which applies to the topic/gap/issue of interest
Assessment Task 2
Assessment method used: Research Project 1000 – 1500 words
Assessment Instruction:
The student must develop actions based on research outcomes for 1 issue within own field of practice. As per Assessment task one the student must build on their research skills to again identify existing information to support and improve their work practice. The student must identify a second gap/issue in their own practice/area of interest in the mental health or AOD field and complete a research activity.
The student must describe the identified research and explain the following:
ways to evaluate the validity of information sources that the student has researched
research processes and how to use them
cultural and ethical considerations for research in mental health and AOD practice
The student must describe the processes that support analysis of information and how to use them, including:
comparing
contrasting
challenging
reflecting
distinguishing relevant information from irrelevant information
drawing interdisciplinary connections between health services
Based on all research activities completed, the student must propose a second identified improvement to their practice/organization that has been identified from the research and which applies to the topic/gap/issue of interest.
