An onion root tip is divided into three zones: cell division, elongation, and maturation. Explain the primary function of the root cap, apical meristem, root hairs, and vascular cylinder in these zones. Predict what would happen if the plant was damaged by a disease that affected the vascular cylinder. Explain, why you predict this would happen.
