Client's background:

E.W., an 84-year-old female, was admitted to the hospital on October 25, 2023, accompanied by symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting that had been present for the previous one to two days prior to her admission. With solid foods, the patient reported experiencing dysphagia. The abdominal and pelvic CT scans revealed esophageal distention, characterized by an esophageal mass and moderate to severe circumferential irregular gastroesophageal junction wall thickening. Following that, she underwent an evaluation at gastroenterology, where a small hiatal hernia and edematous mucosa at the gastroesophageal junction were identified. The findings from three biopsies revealed the presence of advanced squamous cell dysplasia. Consequently, she was referred to oncology and on November 11, 2023, she eventually underwent G-tube placement. Computed tomography scans revealed a varied appearance of the bones, which indicated potential metastases. The patient was otherwise assessed to be medically stable and admitted to Seacrest Village for skilled nursing rehabilitation. Upon admission, the patient denies sickness, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
