HR's work with Compensation and Benefits is tied to supporting a company's strategy. Therefore, it's important for HR to work closely with top management to ensure that the long-term strategy is appropriately supported.

You are the new HR Manager at a research firm that studies the environment in the state of Florida. The firm has been around since the 1940's. There are researchers who travel from all over the world to work here. Some of the lead scientists have worked here for more than 40 years. There are also lab staff who are fresh out of college, and there are those who have worked here for 10-20 years now. So there are a wide range of ages for employees here. Plus they are all in different stages of their lives.

You find that the benefits offered do not meet the needs of this very diverse set of employees so you must develop a new benefits plan.

-Please develop recommendations of the benefits (these can include medical coverage options, other insurance options, and retirement plans) to be offered in a flexible benefits plan. Please indicate why you are making these specific recommendations. Please keep in mind to address domestic partner benefits and older worker benefit needs and how these will be included, if at all.

-Please also include a brief overview of the legally required benefits that must be part of this overall benefits design.
