1. You probably receive only ratings of companies or products. What factors do you use to determine if they get a 9 or 10 rating on items? Let's say we are rating a restaurant. You are asked about the wait time, quality of food, cleanliness of the facilities, and if your server was friendly. In other words, what would have to happen in each of these areas for them to get a rating of ¢ or 10.

2. Daily demand for a product is 4000 units. The process time is 40 days and the wait time is .15 days. The container size is 160 units. The safety factor is 7%. Find the number of Kanbans and our maximum inventory of this product.

3. Search the Internet for images of visual controls. Select two of them and explain why you think they are good visual controls. Include the images in your exercise answers.

4. Give three examples of waste in organizations that you have worked for or frequented often. Explain what the organization could do to eliminate the waste.

5. The 5s we talked about in relationship to businesses. Do you think these principles are something we should apply to our personal living spaces? Why or why not? Do you personally follow any of the 5s in your personal living space? If so, which ones?
