Assignment:

A patient has suffered an injury to their leg. As a result of the injury, several motor units in their muscles have been damaged. The motor neurons innervating (supplying) these muscles are no longer working. Using the information from the learning materials regarding excitation-contraction coupling of muscle tissue, describe why this injury may cause the muscle to NOT be able to contract. Be sure to explain the normal functioning of muscle contraction, and how the injury is affecting that normal functioning. If you choose, you may use an illustration, with proper and complete labeling, to provide your response.
