THIS ASSIGNMENT MUST BE 2-3 PAGES LONG
If you were to open a copy of the any major newspaper in the United States, you would find various sections that apply to different aspects of social life, such as Entertainment, Politics, World, and Business. The business section focuses on the stock market and other important information for owners of businesses, stockholders, and investors (e.g., white collar workers).
The average person in the United States has no major investments in big businesses; therefore, this section has little meaning or relevance in his or her daily life. A section that might be more applicable to those who earn a wage for a living (e.g., blue collar workers) might be called Labor, where readers could find information important for the masses in America who have vested interests in things like rising and falling wages or the status of worker rights and benefits. However, such a section does not exist.
Complete the following for this assignment:
Think about the class system in America, and explain the newspaper's absence of a labor section from a social conflict approach to sociology.
What implications does this have about the so-called "great divide" between the rich and the poor in America?
Make sure that your Individual Project includes references, using APA standards.
