Identity Development Reflection Paper

Before writing this paper, review information from the textbook and lecture regarding identity development. Erikson's fifth stage of psychosocial development is the Identity vs. Role Confusion stage, which occurs between ages 12 and 20. During this stage, teenagers spend a great deal of time trying to figure out who they are, what they are all about, and where they are going.

1) Four areas of identity development include Vocational identity, Religious identity, Physical identity, and Political identity. For each of these four areas of identity, use Marcia's 4 identity statuses (identity diffused; identity achieved; moratorium; identity foreclosure) discussed in class and the textbook to identify what status of identity development you are in and why.

In addition, answer the following questions:

3) Identify and discuss 3 factors that could influence identity development? Did these factors influence your identity development? Explain why or why not. Be sure to incorporate textbook information and one peer-reviewed journal article (an empirical study published within the last 10 years) to support your answers. The textbook and journal article should each be cited at least 2 times within the paper. Your paper should include a title page and a reference.

3) Identity status for physical identity was identified and explained.

4) Identity status for political identity was identified and explained.
