Case: AeroPlug and the JetWing aircraft "door-plug" failure
Your Task
Analyse a given case / scenario and prepare a written report of the findings and make practicable recommendations for resolution of the issues in the case.
Assessment Description
This assessment requires students to apply the theories and models studied in this subject to analyse a [given] real- life organisational and leadership case/scenario (see instructions which follow). Students will analyse the case by identifying the main issues and problems against the people culture and leadership theories, models and frameworks studied in this subject in Weeks 1-7. The report will also include practical recommendations to resolve the issues and to prevent recurrence.
Learning outcome 1: Explain the key concepts in managing the human resources inherent in an organisational system.
Learning outcome 2: Apply human resource considerations to business decision making and in meeting organisational strategic goals.
Learning outcome 3: Apply leadership skills across a variety of domains.
Assessment Instructions
A written case study will be provided as a separate document in the Assessment 2 Tab of MyKBS. Students will read and analyse the case, and then prepare a written management style report of their findings structured as follows:
Introduction (150 words):
Brief outline of the purpose, structure and findings of the report.
Background and main issue (200 words)
Provide a brief overview of the case, and clearly identify the main issue/problem and a sub- issue/problem in a general People Culture and Contemporary Leadership (PC&CL) sense.
Analysis of the issues/problems identified in (2) above. (800 words)
Discuss why the problems/issues identified above may have occurred (cause) using at least one (1) PC&CL theory/ model/framework.
Suggest at least one (1) other PC&CL theory which may also help to explain the main or sub issues/problems identified above.
Support the analysis with direct connection/link between the theory/ies and specific examples/excerpts/occurrences in the case-study.
Recommendations (200 words)
Based on the theories discussed in (3) above, make specific recommendations to the company's leadership team about how to remedy the problem/issue and/or how to prevent its recurrence.
Ensure that the recommendations, which are based on PC&CL theory, are workable and practicable and specifically and directly relate to the case study.
Conclusion (150 words):
Succinctly summarise the key findings of the analysis and recommendations.
Reference List (Not included in word count)
A minimum of four (4) academic references (credible and reliable) are required to be integrated in-to the above analysis using KBS Harvard formatting. In text citations are mandatory.
