The purpose of this assignment is to provide an opportunity for you to research a topic/issue of your interest, demonstrate your knowledge of critically analyzing information found in six scholarly literature/articles, synthesizing this knowledge to write a literature review, and relating this research to your work in early childhood.

The literature review should include the following:

1.Introduction

The introduction is used to establish the context of your literature review and would help the reader to understand the topic. You can include the following:

Question 1. Identify the problem and whom it involves?

Question 2. Explain your reason(s) (perspective) for reviewing the literature on this topic. Why is it important to you?

Question 3. Explain the importance to the early childhood community.

Question 4. What are the policies, laws, and or regulations may affect this issue?

2.Body

Before you begin this section, be sure that you have sorted your articles into different themes based on the findings from the six articles in your group tracking form. Your common themes of the sorted articles will become your headings/themes/categories for each of the paragraphs that you write in the body of your review. To write the body of your literature review, it is important to include the following:

Introductory paragraph for the body of your review. This paragraph gives the reader specific information regarding how many articles you reviewed, and how you sorted the articles into common themes/categories based on the findings.
Next paragraph: This will be the paragraph that describes the first theme that you identified. Compare, contrast and/or connect the articles that you have selected.
Next Paragraph: This will be the paragraph that describes the second theme that you identified. Compare, contrast and/or connect the articles you have selected.
Next paragraph: This will be the paragraph that describes the third theme that you identified. Compare, contrast and/or connect the articles you have selected.

NOTE: The number of paragraphs in the body of your review will depend on the number of themes/headings/categories included.

Conclusion

This is the last paragraph of your literature review. In this paragraph, it is important to summarize the main findings from the articles that you reviewed and identify any notable commonalities/ patterns you see in the findings and anything that is contradictory. Conclude your paper by connecting your findings back to the context of your topic.
