Scenario
Markeeta has been providing support to Graham and his three children. Graham recently left an emotionally and physically abusive relationship that severely impacted their children. Both Graham and his children have shown signs of social withdrawal. Graham's oldest daughter has self-harmed at least twice, while his youngest child has struggled during their first year at primary school.
Markeeta has worked collaboratively with Graham to identify several interventions and supports, including legal and financial advice, support with emergency housing and counselling for himself and his children.
Graham left the family home after domestic violence escalated rapidly to the stage where he was afraid for the safety of his children. He left quickly, getting the children out and leaving behind all their belongings. Their neighbour retrieved some things, but they really don't have much.
Markeeta has two children of her own who are around the same ages as Graham's. She feels strong empathy for him and his children. She decides to give some of her children's outgrown clothes and toys to the children and gives Graham some gift cards she has had stashed in her cupboard for most of the year.
