Mandy, your overview of conservatism versus liberalism is good, and you brought up good points contrasting political views regarding same-sex marriage. While the legality of same-sex marriage remains controversial, it was decided by the Supreme Court that preventing same-sex couples from getting married violates their Constitutional rights.

What I would like for you to do is to discuss a social welfare program (such as a program offering housing or food assistance to struggling people or families) in terms of liberalism and conservatism. If you have trouble identifying a social welfare program to discuss, let me know.
