History of Present Illness/Review of Systems: An 8-year-old boy presents with rhythmic jerking in his sleep. His parents report that this happens every night and has increased in frequency and severity over the past few months. He wakes up with sores on his tongue from biting it and from urinating the bed. Developmental milestones have been appropriate, and no neurological deficits are noted on examination. Follow-up questions reveal that the child often seems fatigued during the day and takes a nap often after school.
