SCENARIO RESPONSE
Your company provides new employees with a digital handbook, which is emailed to them before their first day of work. Employees are expected to come to work fully prepared on their first day and to require no further training since everything that they need to know should be covered in the digital handbook. However, you have noticed that many of the new employees seem to be confused and struggling to complete their daily tasks. This is a problem because it causes the office to run less smoothly, and your customers will be unhappy with the quality of the work that these new employees have done.
A. Imagine that, instead of relying on a digital training manual, you will hold an in-person training seminar for new employees. Compose an email (200-250 words) informing new employees about this seminar and answer the following questions.
B.
i. Explain the general and specific purpose of your writing. (Refer to "3.3. Purpose")
ii. Analyze the target audience of this email. What is important to them (their needs, wants, values)? What do they already know about this subject, and what new information will you need to introduce? Please respond in at least 3 complete sentences.
iii. Explain how you will utilize specific "controls" to connect with your reader and make your information understandable. (See "3.9 Adapting Messages"). Please respond in at least 3 complete sentences.
