Perform a dynamic-force analysis of the in-line slider-crank mechanism for which a kinematic acceleration analysis was carried out as shown below.

aG1x = -71.6 in/s2
aG1y = -79.5 in/s2
aG2x = -106.0 in/s2
aG2y = -80.0 in/s2
aG3 = -70 in/s2 α1 = 40 rad/s2 α2 = 46 rad/s2

a) Calculate x and y components of forces F01, F12 and F23

b) Calculate required input torque, T1.

A cam, with a base circle diameter of 40 mm, rotating clockwise at a uniform speed is to be designed to give an in-line knife-edge follower, at the end of a valve rod, motion described below :

1. To raise the follower through 60 mm with harmonic motion during 120° rotation of the cam ;

2. To keep the follower fully raised through next 30°;

3. To lower the follower during next 120° with uniform acceleration and

4. To keep the follower down to its original position during rest of the revolution.

C1) Draw the follower displacement diagram using either analytical method or graphicalmethod.
C2) Draw the profile of the cam using either analytical method or graphical method.

b) Briefly explain the function of a disk brake and its advantages.

c) Classify various types of rolling contact bearings and briefly explain the construction of a rolling contact bearing.
