1. Provide a summary of a recent news story that involves a difference/diversity issue. Using a variety of news sources (cite 3-4 sources), explain the facts in the story and compare and contrast the different angles used to explain the story.

2. Examine dominant and alternate social identity narratives expressed in the news stories. List one explicit (law, policy, act) and one implicit example that aids in the construction of this social identity in our society. You may choose one of the six identity categories discussed this semester or select a different social identity category (please email me to discuss your social identity category if it is not one of the six). Explain how these constructions interact with the news story.
