Once the negotiation process is completed and a contract is in effect, management and the union monitor the implementation and adherence to the contract agreements.

When a represented employee believes that he or she has been the subject of unfair treatment, there are several avenues available to the employee and the union to redress the grievance. Prepare a report that addresses the following:

  • Explain the employee's rights under the NLRB.

  • Describe a typical process for addressing grievances in a represented workforce.
  • Explain the difference between arbitration and judicial resolution of disputes.
  • When and how would the NLRB be involved in a dispute related to a potential violation of a labor agreement?
  • Discuss how organizations monitor adherence to the bargaining agreement.
