For your first paragraph. I am interested how you might explain social stratification from the three main perspectives your book includes. The structural functionalist. The symbolic interactionist. And the conflict perspectives. Take each of these three perspectives, in your own words. And explain the disparate nature of class we have in our society. Please make sure you present social stratification from each of these three theoretical perspectives.
For your second paragraph. Think about social stratification on a personal level. The book provides lots of statistics on demographics. It provides an overall view of how we stratify ourselves on the basis of wealth and status. Now, I need you to bring it down to a personal level. How do you feel stratification in our society personally effects you? Or does it? From your viewpoint, do class and social stratification have any significance? What is it? Why is it? This second paragraph is all about taking this topic and making it real - and putting it in words so i can understand how you feel about class and social stratification.
For your third paragraph. Search the internet for videos detailing the current state of social class/stratification. There are lots of "low hanging fruits" for this topic. You may use any combination of search words. Such as "social class in the united states" or 'social stratification" or "inequity of wealth"....the list is endless. Find a video that appeals to you in that it mirrors your thoughts and feelings on the state of social class. You may be satisfied. Dissatisfied. Apathetic. Angry. Happy.... Post the link (so that others in the class and myself can view this video) and write a paragraph summarizing its content. What about the video is meaningful to you? Why did you chose this video. Out of the thousands out there? What made this one stand out to you?
