Topic 2-The Scientific Method as Applied to Fingerprints
The scientific method is a logical approach to solving problems. Fingerprint examiners apply the scientific method to the analysis of latent prints using the ACE-V method. This Seminar will address some important questions, such as:
· Has the scientific theory or technique been empirically tested?
· Has it been subjected to peer review?
· Do standards exist for controlling the use of the scientific technique?
· Is there general acceptance of the technique by the scientific community?
