Patient B.F. schedules an appointment because her friends tell her she's depressed. She lost her husband of 43 years to COVID two months ago.  B.F. becomes tearful as she recounts the events of his passing. She reports that some days are good days and she can go about her daily activities and maybe even do something she enjoys, such as crafting. She describes that some days she feels so angry that he's gone she feels as though her heart will beat out of her chest.  She confides that she feels angry, too, at her granddaughter since she gave them COVID.  She has lost some weight but reports her children take her out to eat often. She asks if she is depressed and tells you she doesn't really want to take any medication.

• Review the DSM-V and determine if a diagnosis of depression is warranted and provide rationale.
• Using a minimum of two scholarly sources, describe the stages of grief and if this patient is exhibiting abnormal grief.
• Reviewing what you have learned so far, which type of therapy would be of most benefit to this patient?
