For the U.S. history, children were needed more for work to help the family survive and spent little time in a school. In the 19th Century, reforms were being advocated for in terms of children's welfare. This was during the Industrial Revolution where there were not child labor laws or laws to protect adult workers, either.

What are three types of reforms were being advanced by social reformers for children. How are these similar or contrast today with the current social conditions of children, particularly children of the working and middle class.
