To mitigate CO2 emissions to the atmosphere some have suggested injecting CO2 into deep groundwater. A groundwater primarily at pH 8.3 with an alkalinity of 1*102 M will have CO2 injected until the groundwater comes to equilibrium with P(CO2)=10 bar. Prior to adding the CO2 the groundwater acts as a closed system.
