Description

In the last lecture of this unit, we will watch a tv documentary about intimate partner violence. The documentary is called Hitting Home 1, which appeared on ABC TV in 2015. We will watch the first episode of the two-parts. This episode is available at any time in Informit electronic database of Excelsia College's online library: Following the journeys of the victims of domestic violence in the documentary, critically discuss their real-life cases and apply the readings and in-class resources to this. Integration of multiple unit texts to support your analysis is the focus of this task. Be sure to make and explain direct links between your understanding of the different cases and the unit readings and resources. In your essay, address the following questions:

1. Describe what is happening for women that have experienced domestic violence in the video. What types and tactics of abuse were used by their ex-husband?

2. What are their needs? What are the needs of their children?

3. What is typical or common about these experiences of intimate partner violence?

4. Explain the causal factor of intimate partner violence. How does this manifest itself in Wendy's case? Choose one example from her circumstance.

5. As a social worker in a specialist Domestic Violence, or Sexual Violence service and Wendy is your client. What kind of support might you offer her?

Your answers should reflect a comprehensive understanding of the course content up to and including the week six. Being able to apply course content to the critique of a real-life case study is an excellent way to show us what you have learned so far and is a requirement prior to commencing placement next semester.

For questions 1-3, feel free to use names of the different individuals as you give examples and discuss your points.

Questions 4 & 5 Should solely focus on Wendy's case. You will be marked according to the criteria in your course unit outline. You will be assessed on your knowledge of:

• Tactics, types, cycle, causes and impacts of Domestic Violence.

• Use of relevant concepts as discussed in this unit.

• Effective use of the unit texts.

• Clarity, development of arguments, correct use of APA 7th ed.
