The nurse is caring for a 66 year post-menopausal female. She was diagnosed with stage 2B breast cancer, (HER2 positive). The client and her oncologist have opted targeted chemo and a wide excision mastectomy with a sentinel lymph node dissection, followed by radiation. She has a history of cardiac disease and has had an MI with stents. The HCP has ordered cardiac testing prior to the chemotherapy. The client has been scheduled for a port placement prior to treatment.
