COURSE DESCRIPTION
Probability and Statistics for Computer engineer helps students solve problems and make optimal decisions in uncertain conditions, select stochastic models, compute probabilities and forecasts, and evaluate performance of computer systems and networks.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this course are to:
1. Explain the basic principles of exploratory data analysis
2. Provide an understanding of some of the basic ideas of reliability theory
3. Give students experience in the use of a statistical software packages
4. Equip students with basic techniques of probability and descriptive Statistics.
5. Introduce students to the basic discrete and continuous probability models.
6. Provide the students with the necessary background for inferential statistics, mathematical modeling and related subjects
7. Equip students with the knowledge of the application of probability and descriptive statistics to realworld problems
LEARNING OUTCOME
At the end of this course the students should be able to:
1. Demonstrate skills in the applications of probability and statistics in engineering and science
2. Explain the notation and the basic theory of probability and statistics
3. Apply critical and analytical thinking in problem solving
4. Competently explain the related mathematical and statistical concepts
