Explain Client Systems - Social work practitioners work with human systems including individuals, families, work groups, social groups, organizations (i.e. - schools and churches), neighborhoods, and communities. In Chapter 3, the Ecosystems Perspective was discussed. You also watched an overview of Bronfenbrenner's ecological theory where various layers of one's life were discussed (i.e. - micro, meso, macro). After completing the readings and watching the video, discuss these different layers in YOUR life at present. As you think about your ecosystem, think about how your culture influences different system levels.

The instructor has found in the past that students may be less certain of what the macro influences are in their lives. Each of us does have macro influences on our lives. For example, many of us are impacted by changes to taxes made at the state or federal level. The health care available to students who are veterans may be influenced by benefits, type of services, and quality of services available through the Veteran's Administration. Some people may feel they are affected by "isms" such as racism in the employment sector. Incorporate material from the course (i.e. - text readings) and from external sources to enhance your post. Remember to cite the material. Be sure to cite your page number when referencing the textbook and all external sources.

2. Explain Social Work Methods -You learned about the social work methods of casework, group work, community organization, and the integrated generalist model. Using one of the highlighted profiles of a social worker in the text pages 74 & 76 identify which social work methods you think the worker is engaging in. If the scenario does not explicitly have a social worker, then think about what social work methods would the social worker engage in if there was one. Be sure to cite your page number when referencing the text

3. Explain Social Work Practice Settings - We learned about different types of social service settings. Using what you learned in the text and other information you might have found throughindependent research ( research done outside of using the textbook, i.e., internet, etc. ), compare and contrast public agencies, non-profit agencies, and for-profit agencies. Be sure to cite your page number when referencing the text and cite your independent research).
