In the procedure, you extracted sodium chloride from the insoluble silicon dioxide and calcium carbonate by dissolving the sodium chloride in distilled water. However, calcium carbonate is actually slightly soluble in water: 0.001 g CaCO3 per 100 mL water. What effect would this have had on the ef?ciency of your separation? Explain why.
