Research Paper Assignment Description

You are to approach this project by taking the role of an HR Consultant. You have been hired to help a company address a current trend in Human Resource Management in their organization. You are required to do some academic research on the topic to understand the issue and current practice, and to recommend how to deal with this issue using best practices.

Approach:

Select a current issue/trend in Human Resource Management or using the text outline, choose and HR function, HR process or HR program. Possible topics are suggested at the end of this document.

Research:

Integrate the research conducted through the individual research summaries and additional research conducted by the group into all parts of your paper. The research should be used to provide information and explain key concepts. More importantly, it must support your analysis, arguments and recommendations.

Conduct your academic research on your chosen topic, based on literature search. A minimum of 4 to 12 articles (a minimum of 4 articles per member) post 2007 (e.g. not older than 10 years), from academic, scholarly Human Resource journals is required. You may also use your textbook as an additional resource. (Note that newspapers and Wikipedia are not legitimate sources.) Narrow the focus of your topic as much as possible.

Assignment Criteria and Parameters

• You must use a minimum of 4 to 12 (4 per group member) recent, reliable and relevant academic journal articles (from 2007 and later). Your textbook may be an additional source.

• You must properly cite and reference your work consistently using one recognized citation/referencing format. APA is preferred.

• Word count = 950

Your research paper must include the following:

• Identify the issue you have chosen to address and provide a summary of your chose issues/topic.

Part Two - Relevance to Business

• Explain the relevance of your chose issue to today's business environment. Consider and discuss the following (at a minimum):

o Does this issue impact a specific industry or all industries? Make sure you indicate the scope of impact in your paper.

o What is causing the issue? Is it due to changes in employment laws, business cycles/trends, economic conditions, demographic trends, labour market trends, technology changes, etc.?

o How will this issue impact a business's ability to achieve its goals and objectives?

Part 3 - Format/Style

• Your work should be well organized (e.g. introduction, appropriate subheadings, conclusions, recommendation), with no spelling or grammer errors, flow smoothly, and be easy to read/follow. References should be appropriately cited and followed
