ASSESSMENT TASK 1: Statistics and Data Analysis Project
DESCRIPTION
Assignment task 1 is a group project. The objective of this assignment is to apply statistical theory covered in subject to business situations. Students will be given data related to a simulated real world business case. Student must read and analyse the case using appropriate statistical method and tests to response to the questions in the case using Microsoft Excel/PHStat.
For assignment task 1, groups are formed in the first lecture. Group members are formed by joint selection process where the lecture and the students together decide the group composition to ensure a mix of experience and background. Once the groups are formed, it is the responsibility of group members to discuss and document their member responsibilities, meeting schedules and group interactions. A copy is then given to the lecturer as a reference in the case group conflict arises.
The project will be graded as a group effort where all members will obtain the same mark, unless conflict arises. Groups are to inform the lecturer immediately when conflict arises so it can be deal with. If necessary, peer evaluation will be used where each member are required to evaluate other group members contribution in the project. The project grade is then be allocated based on individual contributions.
ASSESSMENT TASK 2: Decision Modelling and Analysis
DESCRIPTION
Assignment 2 is an individual assignment. The purpose of this assignment is to apply appropriate decision modelling to solve a business problem. Students will be given a simulated real word business problem and are required to write a report to:
• comprehensively explains and critically analyses the relationship between the business issues and practice and solving using appropriate and accurate decision models;
• Correctly and critically evaluates, analyses, and discuss all models/options. Draw critical justified conclusions and present recommendations with supporting evidences and implications.
