Part A
You have recently been appointed to the role of Director, Human Resources, of HL, an organisation that provides a comprehensive range of health care services at 52 private hospitals located throughout Australia in both metropolitan and regional locations. The services provided in the hospitals include surgery, rehabilitation, paediatrics, orthopaedics, oncology, mental health facilities, and childbirth and parenting education. HL employs approximately 15,000 people in a range of professions and occupations on a full-time, part time and casual basis.
You are in the process of reviewing HL's reward and remuneration practices. A key issue requiring analysis is the impact of supply and demand on the attraction and retention of employees.
This analysis requires you to identify:
- Two jobs most likely to be impacted by the level of supply and demand in the relevant labour market; and - Two jobs least likely to be impacted by the level of supply and demand in the relevant labour market.
In both cases above explain your reasoning for identification of the jobs and what actions you will take to attract and retain employees in those jobs.
Part B
You are a trade union o?icial for one of the unions that has coverage of HL's employees. Identify:
- One job at HL in which an employee is most vulnerable to experiencing low pay and job insecurity; and
- One job at HL for which pay and other conditions of employment is likely to contribute to the gender equity gap.
In both cases above explain your reasoning for identification of the job.
