Assignment:
Briefly share another person's or another group of people's experience with racial or ethnic inequality. It can be a specific experience you observed, or an experience you saw, read, or heard in the media. For your mid-term paper, do you think you will analyze this experience, or the personal experience you wrote about for the Week 1 discussion board? Or do you think you will write about someone's experience with class inequality (based on the Week 3 readings) or someone's experience with gender and sexual inequality (based on the Week 4 readings)? Please explain your choice.
PROMPT 1:
Draw from at least one of the assigned readings for this week to analyze and explain the other person's or other group's experience with racial and ethnic inequality that you shared in response to Prompt 1. In other words, use the readings to tell us why the person or group experienced what they did. Be sure to cite or include a specific reference to the reading.
PROMPT 2:
Draw from another reading assigned for the week (a reading you didn't use for your Prompt 2 response) to analyze the information in the video assigned on the U.S.-Mexico border. Use the reading to tell us how the information in the video helps to explain racial and ethnic inequality in the U.S. Again, be sure to cite or include a specific reference to the reading.
PROMPT 3:
Briefly describe two videos from The Whiteness Project website: one video on the White Collars of Buffalo, NY and another video on the Millennials of Dallas, TX. Compare and contrast the way whiteness is described in the videos. Then, draw from two of the readings assigned for this week to analyze and explain the way whiteness is described in each video. Remember to cite and include a specific reference to each reading.
PROMPT 4:
Please briefly share what you did this past week to become familiar with the presentation format you chose for your final presentation (due Week 8): Power Point, Prezi, or Powtoon. Or, if you've decided to change the format of your presentation, since Week 1, please explain your decision.
