• Consider the groups in your local community and choose three different types (suggestions include cultural groups, religious groups, people with disability, young people, the aged, sexual preferences, and sexual identity). Discuss the issues and challenges that may be encountered when working with the groups you chose.
• Our society unfortunately has a lot of myths, unhelpful beliefs and practices about domestic and family violence. Identify at least six of these issues and discuss how they impact the rights of those affected by domestic and family violence to safety and autonomy.

• When working in with clients affected by domestic violence, it is possible that you will experience encounters with those who perpetrate violence.
• Explain why it is important that perpetrators of domestic and family violence accept responsibility/accountability for their actions.
• Explain why some perpetrators will deny responsibility/accountability.
• Identify and explain at least four types of strategies you can implement to support perpetrators of domestic and family violence to accept responsibility.
• Explain the purpose of intervention programs for perpetrators who are known to have committed acts of domestic and family violence against others. As part of your response, read the article about Jerry Retford and his experiences with Relationships Australia's program and discuss how the program enabled him to change his behaviour.
• Discuss the ways that we as a society and community, as well as individually, can assist in the reduction and/or prevention of domestic and family violence. Provide at least two strategies for society/community and individually.
