  • Nancy Adler's model on stereotypes, (from page 31 of textbook) states stereotypes can be helpful if they are:
  • Consciously held (being aware of the cultures you stereotype)
  • Descriptive rather than evaluative
  • Accurate in their description of a behavioural norm
  • The first best guess about a group prior to having direct information about the 
  • specific people involved
  • Modified based on further observations, experience and research.
