Online learning has been a topical subject during the recent COVID-19 national Lockdown alert level 5. Institutions of higher learning needed to save lives and the academic year at the same time as the alert levels kept decreasing and slowly allowing for smaller chunks of students and staff to access university premises. However, maintaining a balance between saving the academic year and lives can prove difficult in situations where resources such as student laptops and internet access are limited. This limitation of resources can be attributed to many things. Few months on, academics and students started getting used to online learning although some challenges still existed much less than were there earlier on. It is crucial for universities and government to understand student needs in so far as online learning is concerned in order to plan for the possible provision of much needed resources.
