Also, read the rest of TZ Levine's From Socrates To Sartre section 4+5 : The ideal soul and the ideal state. Karl Popper's main criticism against Plato is about how Plato constructs the state-the Republic.

Respond to the following discussion:

Why does Karl Popper believe that Plato Republic is a program recipe for totalitarianism similar at best to the outcome in Gattaca or Brave New World and at worst to fascist Italy and Nazi Germany?

Explain popper concept of the open society and the closed society

By the way, I recommend watching the movie Gattaca and or reading Brave New World. Plato's ideal state prescribes certain plans that remind us of Eugenics, Social Darwinism and totalitarianism.
