Magnesium can be obtained by precipitating Mg^2+ as Mg(OH)2(s). The Ksp of Mg(OH)2 is 6.0*10^-10. The magnesium ion concentration is 0.059M. If a sample of solution is treated so its [OH-] concentration is maintained at 2.0*10^-3M. What will be [Mg^2+] remaining in solution? Is the precipitation of Mg(OH)2(s) complete under these conditions? (answer by calculating percentage of [Mg^2+] remaining in solution.
