The best way for anyone to truly and effectively learn and understand the impact of Identity Theft as well as how it occurs, is to research itindependently and consider your findings as you apply them to your own personal life and behaviors.
For this lab, you must spend time researching Identity Theft, what it is, how & why it occurs, and how you can protect yourself, family and/or from it. Once you feel that you have gathered enough information and resources I would like you to create your own personal informativeaction plan of sorts, for you and your family (if applicable). Doing this will allow you to be better informed about how your own daily behaviors might make you vulnerable to this fast growing crime and what adjustments and steps you should take to be better protected and prepared.
Your informative action plan can be created in any format you wish. Be creative and use an approach that will be useful and effective for you. At minimum, you should include but not limit yourself to the following:
Explain ways in which your Identity can be stolen.
Explain in what ways you are susceptible to Identity Theft as a result of how you handle your information and go about your daily routines.
Explain how you can recognize whether or not your identity or some aspect of it has been stolen. What should you be looking for?
If you become a victim of Identity Theft what resources are available to you?
What actions should you take once you recognize you have been a victim?
Explain what key things you can do in your own personal life to protect yourself from Identity Theft. What changes/adjustments can you make?
What resources did you use to help you with this lab?
In your opinion, what are 3 of the most important things a person should know about identity theft?
