Management emerged out of the industrialization of work in the early 20th century, and its purpose is to structure and coordinate various functions within organizations.

Example TWO: Managers are just that, they manage. Managers specialize in implementing and carrying out policy and procedures. Managers' prime focus is to do what's best for the company, while leaders are more individually involved with the success of the group members. Managers train for replacement of a job to ensure the production gap is minimal. A leader will encourage a subordinate to further their education or increase their certifications to apply for higher-level jobs.
