Assignment Details
Intergovernmental relationships serve as the framework of cooperation between local, state, and federal agencies, which all have different limitations of power imposed by the U.S. Constitution. The division of power allows each state to have its own identity, providing citizens with the opportunity to enjoy organized diversity. However, during difficult times, these agencies may shift their priorities and funding to work together to solve complicated problems (e.g., strategies to combat unemployment, developing and enforcing laws, tax collection, or police reform).
In this assignment, take on the role of a state representative in your own state. You are tasked with choosing a complicated problem that will be addressed using intergovernmental relationships. The following are some problems that you can choose from:
Police reform
Tax collection
Unemployment
Crime
Marijuana legalization
Write and accomplish the following:
Describe the goal to be achieved and the importance of achieving such a goal.
Explain the importance of using outside agencies to successfully achieve this goal and why they would be needed.
