Suppose a truck with a mass of 14.9 tons (1 ton = 2000 lb) is traveling at a speed of 49.9 mi/hr. If the truck driver slams on the brakes, the kinetic energy of the truck is changed to heat as the brakes slow the truck to a stop. how much would the temperature of 6.91 gallons of water increase if all this heat could be absorbed by the water?
