Question
1. Analyzing and exploring behavior seems like an appropriate way to explain human development. Assessing an individual's behavior may help understand where certain trauma responses or emotions come from. With the use of classical conditioning, we can comprehend our responses and attachment to new situations and the emotions we develop over time. This approach speaks to me because we adapt certain manners and practices through certain conditioned and unconditioned stimuli and responses. This helps us learn why individuals commit certain actions in life because we developed certain responses and behaviors that may automatically trigger situations in the present. An everyday example of this perspective can be feeling hungry whenever I smell delicious food. This is very common in my life because as a kid I would wake up to the smell of waffles and immediately feel hungry. Now even if I have already eaten a meal and passed a restaurant and smelt something familiar, it would make me hungry all over again.
2. Based on my experience and understanding of others, I believe that the social learning theory approach is most appropriate for me because it explains how and why people such as children adopt certain behaviors. As I've been around children, I can guarantee that one of the most significant ways they learn is by modeling. Most of the time it is the parents they will model which plays a huge role in their identity later on. I believe that the social learning theory approach "speaks" to me as it makes the most sense in how we all learn and imitate others throughout our stages of development. It essentially becomes a natural part of growing up. An everyday example of this perspective would be going to school, learning the material from your teacher, and then modeling that material to remember later on.
