A. Explain how you would work with a sight-impaired victim, a hearing- impaired victim and a victim who uses a wheelchair. What problems or issues do you see that they will face in the criminal justice system? Consider dementia and processing delays also. What challenges do you foresee while working with these delays without the training or knowledge to handle these areas?
B. Which of the causes of rape is the most important? Why? Can we do anything as a society to diminish the chances of a woman being raped? List at least ten types of sexual harassment. Ask others for help with this question. Then share which ones can be labeled sexually violent and why?
C. What is the most serious from of elder abuse? Which of the theories discussing elder abuse do you favor? Why? All forms are bad but consider the reasons provided int he theories. Do you agree?
Discussion 2.
A. Which is the best preventative method for discouraging a stalker? Women and men need to consider stalking. I have many clients who have been stalked by both genders for revenge, harassment, and "pleasure or control" Consider telling the person being stalked how to stop this. Are temporary restraining orders effective tools in stalking cases? Why or Why not?
B. What are the advantages and disadvantages of compensation statutes? What new rights do you believe the victims of family violence will acquire in the near future? Why? Are victim impact statements of any real use in sentencing? Why? Why not? (Choose three questions and share with three colleagues about the critical components of this subject. Remember to consider the viewpoints of others. Support and validate your colleague's responses. You do not have to agree or disagree. You are neutral in your response)
