Question 1: (300 words worth ) Based on the information in reading 1.1 explain why communication is important at university, work and in your personal life. Then watch 10 Ways to have a better conversation (link is on slide 18 in your lecture notes), based on the information viewed explain how you could improve your own communication skills. In this identify what skills would you like to develop and why?
Question 2: (300 words worth 10 marks) Reading 2.2 discusses assertive communication and explains that there are two levels of communication; the content or what you say and emotions, how you say it. Based on this we can help to identify the difference between non-assertive, assertive and aggressive behaviours by six different characteristics of body language (page 92-94). Select one of these characteristics and discuss how you can recognise the differences between non-assertive, assertive and aggressive behaviours. To support your description, apply an example to explain each one
Question 3: (300 words worth 10 marks) Explain why listening is important in academic, professional and personal contexts (Reading 3.2). Explain one area of listening competence you feel is a weakness for you and how you will improve on this skill over the trimester.
