Problem: You are the nurse manager of a very busy pulmonary practice office. The group of pulmonologists has very ill clients coming through the office, with a long wait time in the waiting room. You are concerned as the manager of the office, that some of the medical students, licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, and nursing assistants seem unable to recognize those clients in distress. Therefore, you have decided to create a PowerPoint presentation that all inter-professionals (disciplines) must complete successfully as a continuing education requirement in order to work in the office. The focus is on respiratory assessment. Using what you have learned in your textbook reading assignment, create a program for your team members that will increase competence in respiratory assessment. You are creating a presentation that will be appropriate for all health disciplines. There are three parts to this assignment: Explain how you are going to assess the learning needs of your staff (to include administrative and auxiliary staff as well) and educate them. Be sure to address how the staff would recognize emergent/urgent respiratory concerns and how they would respond. Explain how you are going to assess the learning that takes place. Within the content demonstrate evidence.
