Law, Both Public and Private

The term "public law" refers to the body of law that is formulated by governmental bodies in order to control the actions of private citizens and public institutions. It encompasses international law, administrative law, common law, and statutory law, in addition to constitutional law and statute law. Contracts, torts, and property law are examples of areas of private law that focus on the relationships between private parties.
Both the Substance of the Law and its Procedures

The body of laws that defines and controls the rights and obligations of individuals as well as organizations is referred to as "substantive law." It is comprised of both criminal law and civil law, the former of which specifies the rights and responsibilities of individuals in many facets of the law, and the latter of which defines and prescribes punishments for specific acts or omissions. The body of laws known as "procedural law" is what lays out the steps necessary to put substantive law into effect. It encompasses the regulations for the presentation of evidence in court, as well as the procedures for both civil and criminal cases.
Laws of the Constitution, Acts of Congress, the Common Law, and Administrative Law

The body of laws that determines the organization of a government as well as the fundamental rights of its citizens is referred to as constitutional law. The Constitution of the United States of America and the constitutions of each state are included. The body of laws that were enacted by legislative bodies, such as the United States Congress, state legislatures, and municipal governments, is referred to as statutory law. The term "common law" refers to the body of laws that has evolved over time as a result of judicial decisions that interpret statutory provisions and constitutional requirements. In order for administrative agencies to fulfill their responsibilities, a body of legislation known as administrative law has been compiled.

The Federalism Movement, the Federal Government, and State Governments.

A federalist government is one in which authority is shared between a central government and one or more subnational governments, such as state or local governments. In the United States, the power to enact laws that are binding throughout the entire nation rests with the federal government. Examples of such laws include those pertaining to taxes, immigration, and the environment. The governments of the individual states have the authority to enact laws that are specific to that state. Examples of such laws are sales taxes and speed limits. The federal and state governments' respective authority structures are laid forth in the state constitutions as well as the United States Constitution.
